Envisioning the Unobvious

A Playbook to Build Your Future

In a time of rapid change, tunnel vision won’t get us where we want to go. This is a book about launching your own Mission Unobvious with an exponential mindset. Whether you are starting out in life, looking for a fresh start, or trying to get new ideas off the ground, the book lays out an approach to envisioning and creating futures that go beyond expectations. Join the author on her journey of discovery. Learn, as she did, how to do more than just think outside the box. The keys to the future are already within each of us. By learning to fully utilize our basic human qualities, we unlock our ability to “dream-plan”: to dream bigger than seemed possible, and then plan the steps to turn outer-space dreams into human-space realities. These principles can be applied at all levels. The author shows how she has used them to build an eye-opening life and career... to create new business growth in industries from high fashion to high tech... and to begin building future societies that will work for all of us.

Author:

Federica Marchionni, a leader, a mom, and a champion for good – she wasn’t expected to amount to much as a child. Growing up in a small town in Italy, Federica defied the odds of her quite challenging situation and earned an MBA. In a whirlwind career, she has continued to expand her personal horizons while breaking boundaries across industries and continents. Learning to fully utilize basic human qualities, she unlocked the ability to “dream-plan,” transforming imagination into reality. Federica has worked for global players in tech such as Samsung, Philips and Ericsson where she rose to senior management positions. Recruited to the fashion industry by Dolce & Gabbana, she was a key figure in the company’s global expansion, first as Global VP at the Milan headquarters and then in NYC as President of North America. Before moving to the United States, she served as SVP of the Brand business unit at high-end automaker Ferrari. When she later joined Land’s End, she became the first Italian-born CEO of a publicly traded American company, and later in China as International CEO of Secco, a Beijing-based e-commerce company. The pandemic reaffirmed her vision to lead a purpose-driven organization, and she became CEO of the Global Fashion Agenda, where she applied her dedication to transforming fashion into a net positive industry. Under the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark, the esteemed non-profit organization fosters industry collaboration on sustainability to accelerate impact. Federica’s story reflects on the value of innovation, the importance of perseverance in bringing disruptive change, and the leadership lessons learned as she forged her path always with an unobvious approach.
